How to install Windows 10 updates without an internet connection

When Microsoft launched the Windows 10 operating system in 2015, they promised yearly updates. Microsoft focused on the point that Windows 10 is not an OS but a service. It will be supported regularly throughout its lifecycle. Windows 10 got some new additions to its features list in the Anniversary Update in mid-2016. It is 2017 now and Microsoft has released the Creators Update for Windows 10.

The updates on Windows 10 are always released in phases, with the flagship laptops receiving it first followed by less capable devices. The update roll-out also depends on the make and manufacturer of your computer. There are some people who like to wait till their computer notifies them about the update. However, some like to try it out before the rest of the world catches up. It may also happen that your Windows 10 PC isn’t connected to an internet connection at all or uses a metered connection from your smartphone. So, is there any way to get Windows updates for your computer without it being connected to fast or no internet connection?

Yes, you can. Microsoft has a tool specifically built for this purpose and it’s known as the Media Creation Tool.

The concept of the Media Creation Tool is very simple – you can download a legitimate copy of Windows 10 with the latest update on another PC with internet connection and install it on your PC through a removable media like a DVD or a USB flash drive. However, you should have a licensed copy of Windows 10 pre-installed on your PC. The tool gives you an option to either install the downloaded files on your PC as an update or perform a clean installation through ISO files. Since we are looking to keep our files and settings most of the time, updating is the PC is the best way to go. The tool can be downloaded for free from Microsoft’s website and is fairly simple to use.

Note: You need to have a USB flash drive plugged in your computer. Remember that this process will erase all other data before downloading the file on the flash drive, so take a backup of the existing data on the flash drive. If there’s any other flash drive attached to the computer, you will get an option to choose your desired flash drive.

1. Download the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft’s website. It is available for free and weighs around 18MB. Install it on a PC with an internet connection. Note that you need to have Administrator access on the PC you are downloading the files. You will also need to accept the terms and conditions of the Media Creation Tool before progressing.

2. After installation, you will be asked to either “Upgrade this PC now” or “Create installation media for another PC”. Choose the “Create installation media for another PC” and click “Next”.

3. You will have to select the language, edition and architecture of the Windows 10 you want to download. Click on “Next” after choosing the option

4. You will be given an option to choose the media for downloading the files. If you use a USB flash drive, ensure that it has a capacity of at least 8 GB. Or you can create an ISO file, which you can burn to a DVD later. As per our trial, the “USB flash drive” option is faster to download as well as install. Click “Next” after selecting the USB option.

5. You will see the download screen with the percentage of files downloaded on the PC. Wait until the download reaches 100%.

6. Once finished, you will be greeted with a message - “Your USB Flash Drive is ready”. You can also make multiple copies of the downloaded files to other flash drives.

Now plug-in the USB flash drive to your Windows 10 computer. Open the folder in the drive and select the “Setup” file to start the installer. Upon opening, select the “Install updates now” option and Windows will start installing the updates. Wait for the installation to finish and after that, you are on the latest version of Windows 10.

Google Introduces AI for Its Android Services That Learns from You Without Compromising Privacy

Google, the company that rules the internet, is now testing a method to leverage its machine learning with its ubiquitous presence on mobile devices. The new model they're employing is called Federated Learning, and it hopes to apply artificial intelligence to Google's services on Android without compromising user privacy.
The Federated Learning model would be downloaded directly onto a mobile device. It would then learn from data gathered by Google's apps and services, and apply this knowledge as an update to improve the experience on your phone.
Fairly straightforward so far, right? But the trick would be gathering and using this data without compromising the user's privacy. To accomplish that, the information is encrypted, anonymized, and aggregated with other users' data before being analyzed in the cloud. The combined user data is then used to improve the base model of Google's ecosystem.
But before the aggregated data is used to improve Google services on the whole, a bit of machine learning is applied locally to enhance your personal experience. This act takes place strictly on your phone, and is not shared with Google's cloud-based AI until after it's been anonymized and combined with other users' data.
The improvements made by the local AI will happen immediately, "powering experiences personalized by the way you use your phone."

On that front, the research currently being done involves the Gboard virtual keyboard app on Android. Following the Federated learning model previously described, Venture Beat explains:

To sum it up, research scientists Brendan McMahan and Daniel Ramage stated in a blog post that "Federated Learning allows for smarter models, lower latency, and less power consumption, all while ensuring privacy."

Google’s Fred Algorithm Update – 5 Steps to Take Now!

If you have any questions or are worried about how the new Fred update may have affected your website traffic, feel free to contact us for a complimentary consultation with one of our experts.

Google is always tight-lipped about the changes they make to their algorithm, however, the change on March 7th/8th was large enough for many website owners and digital marketing firms to notice substantial changes in traffic and rankings. This new algorithm update, simply known as “Fred”, is believed to primarily target websites with low-quality content and backlinks. Often, these two factors occur simultaneously and on websites that have utilized SEO companies to quickly build low-quality content and backlinks.

Google has confirmed the Fred algorithm update, but they were weary of giving too much information about it. The only clue given to website owners was that Fred targeted websites that were not abiding by the webmaster guidelines. Based on our research here at StatCounter, we have determined that sites with low-quality content and unnatural backlinks, purely meant to drive revenue have been the most hurt by this update.

Here are five things you can do right now to see if you were affected and start recovering any lost rankings and traffic

1) Look at your analytics. Did you see a drop in the traffic or the number of keywords you were ranking for between March 5th and the 20th. If no you are probably fine if you did then read on.

2) See if you can categorize your content into 2 buckets – high quality and updated vs low quality and old.

3) Match your lost keywords, based on traffic volume and previous rankings, with any low-quality content pages.

4) Improve your content quality immediately. Start by adding to, rewriting, and making your low quality pages better. Start with the pages that were driving the most traffic pre-Fred (see number 3).

5) Use a backlink spam tool or checker and to find and remove any questionable backlinks. Also, ensure that your remaining “good” backlinks appear natural and in reasonable ratios. For instance, no-follow to follow ratios, anchor text similarities, etc. are all things that Google takes into account when determining the value of your backlinks.

Fred Algorithm Update Changes and Concerns

The update has now been around long enough for us to start piecing together the puzzle. The first factor is content. If your site’s rankings are heavily dependent on multiple long-tail keywords and the content that matches those keywords was written before 2014, you may have been affected. Basically, if Fred sees your content as invaluable, outdated, or too ad-heavy, you may see some rankings drop.

The second factor is low-quality backlinks. If you’ve ever paid for generic or easy to spot “artificial” backlinks, Fred may have just penalized you. Websites with a lot of old content likely also have a lot of old backlinks. Since low backlinks and low quality content often go hand in hand, this correlation makes it difficult to determine which, if not both factors is driving changes in rankings.

Avoiding the Fred Penalty

This isn’t the first algorithm update Google has rolled out to encourage high quality content, and it likely won’t be the last. The best way to avoid and or recover from a Fred penalty is to focus on creating high-quality, in-depth, and authoritative content on your site. If your website has a lot of old content you will want to go back through and optimize these pages to meet their quality standards.

Also, since Google said this update targeted website’s that were not following the webmaster guidelines, you may want to review these as well to ensure you accidently aren’t practicing any black hat or out of date SEO techniques. For the rest of 2017, focus on creating quality content for your website rather than generating large amounts of cheap and quickly written content.

Track Your Traffic with StatCounter

StatCounter offers free website analytics to millions of websites around the world. We also track changes in search engines and keep our members informed with the latest news. If you’d like to start using StatCounter to see how changes like Fred affect your website

Here is our first report from an SEO data provider that analyzes 300 domains after the Google Fred update.

Sistrix, an SEO toolset data collection company, published their analysis of the Google Fred update after reviewing “nearly 300 domains.” Their analysis describes the sites and pages that were hit like this:

“…advertisement, outdated, thin and scraped content, as well as incomprehensible articles made up of 300 word ‘SEO texts’ pumped to the brim with main keyword mentions and void of any useful information or a sense of readability.”
They have confirmed our analysis of Fred, where we said low value content sites were hit by this update.

Juan Gonzalez from Sistrix analyzed 300 website domains on Google Germany, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States, all of which lost Google search results visibility after March 13, 2017. Juan said that “nearly all losers were very advertisement heavy, especially banner ads, many of which were AdSense campaigns … Another thing that we often noticed was that those sites offered little or poor quality content, which had no value for the reader.”

He then shared specific examples of sites that were hit and how bad their visibility dropped. Many of the sites lost between 50 percent and 90 percent visibility in Google, which correlates with what we’ve seen webmasters report their Google traffic has dropped after being hit by this Fred update.

This chart shows the ranking distribution on Google for freewarefiles.com before the Fred update:

This chart shows the ranking distribution on Google for freewarefiles.com after the Fred update:

Here is a visibility report from Sistrix show a 75 percent drop for freewarefiles.com in Google.com:

Google has confirmed there was a new update but would not add anything outside of the fact that what it targeted can be found in the Google webmaster guidelines.

What does 2017 have in retailer for SMS?

As not too long ago as 5 years in the past, industry specialists predicted that A2P SMS would apply the decline in P2P messaging as a result of the rise in speedy messaging apps. They couldn’t were more wrong. in line with recent reports on cellular advertising Watch, business analysts are suggesting that SMS is set to grow from a $55.49 billion to $71.60 billion business via 2021. while this statistic may appear surprising to a few, there were just a few consultants that expected nothing much less.

One such professional,  or P&P Infotech, is assured that A2P SMS will proceed to develop regardless of the elevated use of immediate messaging purposes. He states that “SMS messaging has turn out to be an increasingly more common software for trade verbal exchange, particularly for industry to consumer (B2C) communication. despite the recognition of rapid messaging applications, it isn't fitted to B2C communication. Most customers favor to use IM functions in basic terms for social functions. in addition, the IM area is repeatedly altering, and in 5 years would possibly look very completely different to lately. SMS, then again, will remain a reliable and stable platform for future years. ”

When asked how SMS remains so relevant despite the ever-changing use of communication platforms, Dr Streicher had the following to say, “Firstly, SMS has a lower risk of spam due to its relatively high cost. The low cost of instant messaging increases the risk of spam and the measures taken by IM providers to combat spam, inadvertently blocks most types of messages that businesses are likely to send.” Some of these measures include:

  • now not providing an API for A2P messaging
  • Limiting message team sizes
  • Limiting communique to these initiated via customers
  • Limiting the selection of folks that may be messaged that do not have the senders contact quantity in their own contact list
every businessman believes that SMS will stay relevant for industry verbal exchange is that SMS does not rely on knowledge coverage or internet get admission to whereas IM applications, corresponding to WhatsApp, Viber, WeChat and many others, do. SMS can be supported on all cell phones where the IM house is very fragmented with a greater diversity of IM applications to be had. “SMS is therefore ubiquitous, while no single IM application is,”

SMS is offered, it eliminates the necessity for redundant apps and it’s familiar. most importantly, we feels that the secure nature of SMS as a know-how justifies the mixing of SMS into 1/3 party purposes.

professional's concludes that, “SMS will continue to grow globally as more industries undertake SMS messaging as a stable and reliable messaging tool. One example of a rising industry adopting SMS messaging is the “sharing industry”. This industry used to be put on the map by way of products and services similar to Uber and Airbnb. This proliferation of worldwide “sharing” services and products across multiple industries, are already benefitting from an SMS messaging part. we are excited and expectant for what 2017 will deliver.”For more information visit at- Bulk SMS Service provider in India
